It is said to have been used as a medicinal herb to relieve tired eyes since the Manyo era.
In Japanese, it is written as “thin package. This originates from the fact that when thin cargo was actively cultivated in Hokkaido, the harvested mint leaves were distilled and made into Hakka oil, which was then processed into a compact form before being exported.
The main production area in Japan is Hokkaido, but nowadays most of the peppers are grown in India and China, and pure domestic peppers are becoming rare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
